Scope of This Statement
This Accessibility Statement applies to the website [www.miamily.com](http://www.miamily.com/) .
Compliance Status
As of April 2026, the website has been evaluated against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level A and Level AA success criteria . Based on the assessment results, the website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 because some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard .
MiaMily is currently carrying out a structured remediation plan to address the issues identified during the audit and to progressively improve the experience for all users .
What We Are Actively Improving
The following areas were identified during the April 2026 audit as requiring improvement . For each area, the remediation work is intended to reduce friction for users of assistive technologies, keyboard navigation, zoomed interfaces, and low-vision browsing .
Screen reader descriptions for images
103 images currently lack descriptive text alternatives . Alt text is being added to meaningful images so that users who are blind or have low vision and rely on screen readers can understand the purpose and content of each page more effectively .
Color contrast for readability
96 instances of insufficient color contrast were identified . Color combinations are being reviewed and updated to improve readability for users with low vision or color blindness and to better align with the WCAG minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for standard text .
Text resizing compatibility
29 issues were found where enlarging text up to 200% caused content to break or become difficult to use . Layout and content presentation are being reviewed so that users who require larger text can continue to access content and functionality without loss of information .
Skip navigation links
25 pages are missing a mechanism that allows keyboard and screen reader users to skip repeated navigation and move directly to the main content . This feature is planned as part of the ongoing accessibility improvements to make page navigation faster and less repetitive .
Form behavior on input
One instance was identified in which a form element triggered an unexpected page change when a user made a selection . This behavior is being reviewed so that changes occur only when intentionally confirmed by the user .
Page code structure and semantics
12 code-level issues were found that may affect how assistive technologies interpret page content . The underlying structure is being reviewed to support more reliable interpretation of headings, landmarks, content regions, and interactive elements .
Interactive element labeling
Five interactive components, including buttons or form fields, were identified as lacking proper names or roles . These elements are being updated so that their purpose is clearly communicated to screen reader users before interaction .
What Is Already Working Well
At the time of the assessment, no failures were identified for logical content relationships, form input identification, text spacing flexibility, time limits, moving content controls, page titles, and language declaration . The review also found no identified failures in audio and video handling, keyboard operability, focus visibility, seizure prevention, consistent navigation, form error handling, status messages, and responsive layout across devices and screen orientations .
Remediation Roadmap
Following the April 2026 audit, MiaMily has initiated a phased remediation roadmap over 3, 6, and 12 months . This roadmap combines immediate content and quality-control improvements with broader design, process, and technical enhancements intended to improve accessibility in a measurable and sustainable way .
Actions planned within 3 months
The first phase focuses on improvements that can be implemented quickly through content updates, theme settings, internal review, and publishing processes, without requiring significant Shopify development.
· Add and standardize alt text on the most important images across the homepage, main collection pages, key product pages, and primary promotional banners, addressing the image description issues identified in the audit .
· Review the wording of links, buttons, and calls to action so that they are more descriptive and easier to understand out of context, especially for screen reader users .
· Improve the readability of key page content by reviewing heading hierarchy, paragraph structure, bullet formatting, and page-level clarity on the most visited templates .
· Correct the most visible low-contrast content issues that can be improved without code changes, including text placed on promotional graphics, badges, banners, and editable content sections .
· Review the pages most affected by text enlargement and correct the most evident content breakage in standard content blocks where changes can be made through content or configuration updates .
· Check the most frequently used forms, such as contact and newsletter forms, to improve the clarity of field instructions, labels, helper text, and visible error guidance where editable without custom development .
· Reduce the use of text embedded inside images in newly published promotional assets and favor live text wherever possible to improve readability and adaptability .
· Introduce an internal accessibility publishing checklist covering alt text, clear link wording, heading order, contrast awareness, and content readability for all newly published pages and campaigns .
· Establish a recurring manual review of the most visited pages so that obvious accessibility regressions can be identified and corrected earlier in the publishing cycle .
Actions planned within 6 months
The second phase focuses on broader improvements that require coordinated work across content, design, quality assurance, and template governance, but may still be completed with limited or moderate technical intervention.
· Extend the review and completion of alt text to the wider product catalog, secondary imagery, collection assets, and reusable visual content, beyond the highest-priority pages identified in the initial phase .
· Carry out a broader review of color contrast patterns across recurring components such as product cards, banners, promotional modules, footer areas, and content sections to reduce repeated contrast failures .
· Improve the consistency and readability of product-page content structures, including headings, bullets, descriptive text, and supporting content blocks, so that information is easier to scan and understand .
· Review recurring form experiences across the site to align labels, instructions, validation messages, and confirmation messages in a clearer and more consistent way .
· Define reusable internal standards for content authors and marketing teams so that new landing pages, campaigns, and merchandising assets follow stronger accessibility practices by default .
· Introduce a simple accessibility quality-assurance step before major site updates, with checks covering zoom behavior, keyboard access on core journeys, readability, and content clarity on major devices .
· Review navigation, filtering, and browsing experiences on the most important templates to identify areas where users may experience unnecessary complexity or ambiguity .
· Prioritize remediation work on the templates and customer journeys with the highest traffic or business impact so that the most used parts of the site improve first .
Actions planned within 12 months
The third phase focuses on the more complex technical improvements that require Shopify theme development, code remediation, component refactoring, or deeper front-end accessibility work.
· Implement or refine skip-to-content functionality and related keyboard-navigation improvements across the relevant templates, addressing the navigation issue identified during the audit .
· Correct semantic HTML and ARIA implementation issues in the theme so that assistive technologies can interpret the page structure and interactive elements more reliably .
· Update custom interactive components so that names, roles, states, and relationships are properly exposed to assistive technologies, especially in menus, filters, modals, expandable content, and other advanced interface elements .
· Correct the form behavior issue identified in the audit so that changes on input do not trigger unexpected page updates or context shifts without deliberate user action .
· Refine or rebuild template sections that do not behave well under zoom, reflow, or responsive resizing, in order to improve usability at 200% text enlargement and similar viewing conditions .
· Review custom theme code and any higher-complexity sections that may introduce accessibility barriers beyond those visible in standard content editing .
· Integrate accessibility checks more formally into the design and development process so that future releases are reviewed against agreed accessibility criteria before publication .
· Publish updated progress information in the Accessibility Statement after major remediation phases have been completed, reflecting the status of improvements and remaining work .
Technical Specifications
Accessibility of miamily.com relies on HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS, and JavaScript, used in combination with the user’s web browser and any installed assistive tools or plugins .
